Rubber Bands
A box of ordinary rubber bands is a very useful thing to have in the house. Apart from their original purpose, which is the banding of papers , they can be employed in the icorkbasket for keeping cards of icool and silk together. A rubber band twisted round the tip of a fountain-pen will enable that part to be removed with ease, even when the screw has become very tight. But it is as an aid to neatness that the rubber band is so invaluable if used freely. It is rather remarkable how a box of bands seems to suggest ideas and, if left about, everybody in the house will want one or more for some special purpose of his own. Thick rubber bands, with a clip at each end, are now made to take the place of book-straps. These are very handy things, as they will go round three or four books, fasten a parcel, or hold a bundle of umbrellas together when travelling .
