GIRL GUIDES’ CORNER
Sun Cloud (Jessie Anderson), our representative in the First Cambridge Company, writes: “We are now a full company, with out Captain, Lieutenant, three other girls and myself, who have won our five years’ gold stars. There is great keenness in our company, because we have a silver medal and silver cup for which we have inter-patrol competition.” Sun Cloud also forwards the following account of the annual camp: “The First Cambridge Company, with eight Guides from Te Awamutu, spent a happy time during the latter par: of January at the annual camp which was held this year at RotoRar.gi. “Our camp site was an ideal one, with a natural swimming pool close by. Our numbers totalled 36 and rose to 40 each week-end, when the campers included Captain Ford and Lieutenant Bowden, from Te Awamutu. “The great event of our camp was the surprise visit of our Camp Advisor. Miss Webster, who arrived when we wet e all in the swimming pool. “One night we held a memorable camp-fire, to which we invited the residents of Roto-Rangi, with whom we spent a happy time. On our last nig it in camp we held a fancy dress ball, which was marred in the early part of the evening by a deluge of rain, but. later on. wo braved the weather and very quickly film-stars, clowns, imps, and all manner of queer apparitions emerged from the tents and spent a wildly exciting and hilarious time. •‘At last 38 brown and happy girls had to part after spending a wonderful 10 days together. This combined camp w;.s a great success, and has resulted in cementing friendships between the girls, this being one of the ideals of Guiding. E-lue Fire rejjorts that the Judean Company has now three new members. Preparations are in hand for the first birthday party of the company. which will take place in the Jewish Social Hall on Tuesday, March 6.
