TO HELP THE BLIND
OPTICIANS’ ASSISTANCE CONFERENCE SECOND DAY At the optometrists’ conference this morning it was decided to launch a box-collecting campaign for the benefit of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind. In the opinion of the chairman, Mr. H. S. Gilberd, boxes placed in the premises of the 107 members of the Optometric Institute should be responsible for an annual sum of at least £IOO. An appeal had recently been made to New Zealand optometrists by the St. Dunstan’s Blind Institute of London, but, in Mr. Gilberd’s opinion, it was the members’ duty to support the afflicted of their own country. It was decided to hold the institute examinations in the latter part of November. After a discussion on suggested alterations in the rules of the institute, the conference adjourned for a motc.r trip to the Panorama Heights, Waitakere Ranges.
