Knife Wielded
INSPECTOR DEFIED j Woman With Carver In a report submitted by tbe sanitary inspector to the Mount Roskill Road Board last evening, he recounted his experiences in serving a notice on a female purveyor of foodstuffs in the district, requesting her to provide a water supply, sink and drain, and to cease selling eatables and ice-cream for consumption on tbe premises until a licence had been granted by the board. “When serving the notice on Mrs what action she bad to take, and was greeted with an outburst of insulting and offensive language. I made to go behind the counter, where a heap of bedding was stored along with some sacks of rubbish. “Then Mrs picked up a carving knife, used for slicing ham, etc., and ‘politely’ informed me that if I dared to come sneaking behind her counter she woul stick the krtife through me.” A later visit showed that some, but not all, of the improvements, had been made. The inspector recommended legal proceedings, as the business was being conducted contrary to the regulations of the Health Act. The owner of the shop appeared before the board and said that the wishes of the inspector had been complied with, and the question was deferred pending the inspector’s confirmation.
