“AU REVOIR”
FAREWELL DANCE FOR MISS ISABEL FURLEY Miss Isabel Furley, who leaves on ; Friday by the Ulimaroa, en route for England, was the guest of honour at a delightful dance held last evening at the Amateur Operatic Society’s hail in Grafton Road, when her fellow members gathered to bid her “Au Revoir.” Speeches were made by Mr. J. M. Macaulay and Mr. Ralph Dibble, and at the conclusion of Miss Furley’s reply a bouquet of pink and blue flowers was presented to her. During the evening musical numbers were contributed by Miss J. Reynolds, Miss K. Coleman, Miss I. Weston, Mr. M. Gallagher, Mr. E. Snell, Mr. J. Church and Mr. R. Clark. Miss Furley was wearing a dainty little frock of embossed black and gold brocade and a shawl of Pompeian rose toning. Among those present were: Mrs. Jackson, who chose a gown of : black satin faconne. Mrs. J. M. Macaulay, whose frock was of peach-tinted brocaded crepe. Miss L. Mackenzie, in a prettily beaded i frock of black chiffon. Miss Jennings, wearing wistaria mauve panne velvet inset with silver lace. Miss K. Coleman, frock of deep delphinium blue chiffon. Miss Sinclair, . frock of cloth of silver and white satin crepe. Miss J. Reynolds, moonlight blue frock of satin beaute. Miss Harris, violine blue georgette frock. Miss E. Hitchings, georgette frock of pastel blue tone. Miss Rainger, frock of hyacinth blue chiffon. Miss E. Weston, black taffetas frock. Miss Molloy, frock of mist blue crepe de chine. Miss M. Wright, sequined frock of briar rose crepe de chine. Miss Cunningham, frock of opal blue shot taffetas. Miss D. Downes, frock of beaded black georgette. Miss M. Garrett, frock of ficelle-tinted Miss Barry, geranium pink chiffon frock. Miss L. Weston, mignonette green crepe de chine frock. Miss Rees, beaded frock of ivory ninon. Miss Smith, flower patterned frock of white georgette. Miss Phillip, embroidered frock of white organdie. * Miss E. Jennings, frock of cherry red and gold crepe de chine. Miss Sinclair, rose pink chiffon frock. Miss McHattie, frock of black georgette. Miss Edwards, frock of white crepe de chine. Miss E. Palmer, pistache green frock of crepe de chine. Miss A. Ridley, nasturtium shaded satin crepe frock. TENNIS PARTY Miss Kathleen O’Brien was the hostess at an enjoyable tennis party given at her home in Devonport yesterday afternoon in honour of Miss Moira O’Brien, her cousin, who is a Christchurch visitor to Auckland. Several sets were played, and then the guests were taken by car over to Milford for a swim, and brought back to the house for afternoon tea. Miss O’Brien wore a very chic little sports suit of heavy white schaffe silk, with cherry red motifs on the pockets. Miss Moira O’Brien was wearing a pleated frock of French crepe de chine. Among the guests were: Mrs. Wooliams, Mrs. H. Heather, Miss C. Drury, Miss Hale, Miss I. Wells, Miss H. McDonald, Miss L. Murphy, Miss M. Jack - son, Miss Anderson, Miss Carruthers and Miss R. Webster.
