NEW RECORD FOR MONTH CSUN'S Special Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. With the export figures for January reaching £7,606,385 the Dominion has attained a new record, the previous highest figure for January being £7,064,644 in Jannary 1924. The highest figure for any month is £8,336,263, in February, 1925, followed by £7,796,633, in March, 1925. Details of the exports and the imports in January of this and last year are as follow: January 1928. 1927. Increase. Exports £7.606.385 £5,205,140 £2.401,245 Imports 3,770,020 4,011,060 *241,040 Excess £3,836,365 £1,194,040 £2,642,285 •“Decrease in Imports. The great appreciation in the price of wool accounts for over £1,000,000 of the increase in exports. Also, as has been apparent in the previous months of the current export season 1 , the large increase in shipments of dairy produce—especially butter—and of frozen meat have contributed to the Improved position. ~ lu.
