UNEMPLOYED PROBLEM IN U.S.A. By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. NEW YORK, Sunday. Acting upon a report prepared by the Industrial Commissioner, the Governor of New York State, Mr. A. Smith, has taken steps to relieve the unemployed. He has urged the various mayors and county supervisors to speed up public works for the purpose of providing more jobs. Mr. Smith has also requested members of the Cabinet to hasten building projects in the State. The commissioner says the conditions are worse than at any time since 1921. —A- and N.Z.
