Mr. and Mrs. Douglas McGregor, Remuera, have taken up their residence in Commander Peters’s house, in Arney Crescent. Mrs. Kohn, of Christchurch, arrived in Auckland on Sunday by the Port Hunter, after a visit to Great Britain and the Continent.

Mrs. Montgomery, who was until recently in charge of the physical recreation work at the Auckland Y.W.C.A., is now settled at Norfolk Island.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Shaw, of California, and Mr. and Mrs. Knight, of Virginia, U.S.A., were arrivals by the Tofua yesterday from Apia. They will proceed to Sydney by the Niagara later in the month.

Mrs. T. Russell, of St. Stephen’s Avenue, accompanied by Miss Meg Russell, Miss Eileen Nixon and Miss Audrey Bayly, will leave town next week for a motor tour of the South Island.

ROWING CLUB DANCE

AT DEVONPORT The Foresters’ Hall at Devonport was gaily decked with pennants and streamers last evening for the dance that was held there by the North Shore Rowing Club. The proceeds, which were pleasing in their amount, are to be devoted to the regatta fund. Splendid dance music was provided by the Kit Kat Orchestra.

TENNIS “AT HOME

PARNELL ENTERTAINS OTHER CITY CLUBS

Yesterday afternoon a very successful “At Home” was held by the committee of the Parnell Tennis Club, at which about eight members from each of the other clubs in Auckland were entertained.

Progressive tennis was played during the afternoon, and prizes were won as follow:—A grade: Mrs. Halligan (Wellington) and Miss Marjorie Colebrook. B grade: Miss H. A. Schiska.
