A LTHOUGH several new names figure in the list of players selected for practice, in view of the Australian match, it cannot be said that the selectors have broken any new ground. On the contrary, despite the failure in the Plunket Shield games of sides which consisted essentially of experienced rep. the selectors are leaning more heavily than ever on the older brigade. There is nothing at stake against the Australians, and the process of building up for next year’s Plunket Shield series would be better achieved were N. C. Snedden askedto lead a side containing a better proportion of fresh talent than the preliminary selection of players indicates.
