BOWLED BY TENTH BALL OF THE OVER
the Varsity trundler, Had bowled his eighth ball and Wetherill, the United Suburbs batsman, had successfully blocked it. “That’s over,” remarked one scorer to the other, who replied that it was. But the bowler sent down another ball and then another. The tenth ball clean bowled Wetherill, and as the batsman came from the wickets he was greeted by humorous remarks from his fellowplayers. The climax came when the next batsman went in, and the umpire, turning toward the scorers, called, “How many balls?” When the scorers replied, “Ten!” the umpire hurriedly journeyed from the wickets to his position at leg amidst chuckles from the spectators.
