REFORM OR LABOUR?
MR. HOLLAND SAYS “CHOOSE” (From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, To-day. “When the election takes place this year you can eliminate all but two parties,” said Mr. H. E. Holland, Leader of the Opposition, speaking at Whangarei on Saturday night. “You have got to decide between the present Government, with its record of failure and disaster, and the Labour Party.” Reviewing the Government’s record, Mr. Holland charged the administration with mismanagement and inefficiency. Its immigration policy was a senseless piece of legislation, increasing the already acute problem of unemployment. He severely criticised the handling of the Samoan trouble, which in his judgment was marked by criminal neglect. The land policy of the Labour Party .was outlined, and proposals were enunciated for the financial assistance of struggling farmers. Mr. L. J. Brake, Mayor, who presided, spoke of Mr. Holland as an earnest, conscientious, and honest worker.
Questions were invited, but owing to the late hour only two or three minor inquiries were made.
