“THE FOUR DEVILS”

HERMAN BANG'S STORY F. W. Murnau, the German directorial genius who was brought to Hollywood by Fox Films to produce “Sunrise,” is to make ‘The Four Devils,” from Herman Bang’s novel of the same name. “Sunrise” has been received with such acclamation by the critics of New York, where it was recently released at the Times Square Theatre, that exhibitors throughout the world have already dis played intense interest in its arrival. “Sunrise” marks a distinct step forward in the making of motion pictures, and Murnau has displayed a unique technique in the production of the story. The film is based on Saunderman’s “A Trip to Tilsit,” and deals in powerful manner with a peasant, his wife and the siren from the city. The audience is shown the ponderous working of the man’s mind when he is ensnared by the “vamp,” the neartragedy that threatens his wife, and of their subsequent reconciliation. Janet Gaynor and George O’Brien are cast as the man and wife, while Margaret Livingston wins new laurels in her work as the Circe.

The complete cast of “Tillie s Punctured Romance,” which Paramount is making, is as follows:—W. C. Fields, Chester Conklin, Louise Fazenda, Mack Swain, Tom Kennedy, Doris Hill, Grant Withers, Babe London, Kalla Pasha, Micky Bennett, and Billy Platt. The picture is an original by Monte Brice and is directed by Eddie Sutherland.
