Robertson, and all the officials, are to be congratulated upon their organisathe successful manner in Wi l ich nsi ie arran sements were carried There were not many entries in the horse section, in which Mr. G. Harris was most successful in the draughts, and Mr. F. Andrews provided the best hack, annexing the 13st hack, best trooper’s horse, best hack bred in Hokianga, and, with Mr. L H. Bourke up, won the open hunter competition. In the dairy classes the Jerseys took pride of place both in quantity of entries and quality. Other breeds' were poorly represented. The sheep peris were full, and there were some very fine animals exhibited. The judge found it a very hard task to separate the first and second exhibits, and in some cases the third prize, in the sheep and lambs for export and butchers’ classes. Awards in the cattle classes were: Jerseys. —Bull, one year: J. Beazley’s entry 1, W. D. McKenzie’s entry 2. Cow: L. De Andrad 1, W. Grounds 2. Heifer, two years and over: W. Grounds 1 and 2. Heifer, one year: W. D. McKenzie 1, P. Newton 2. Weaner heifer: G. Gray 1, A. Hawkins 2.
Other Breeds. —Shorthorn bull, two years and over: C. Harris 1, W. Lee 2. Shorthorn cow, two years and over: C. Harris 1 and 2. Hereford bull, two years and over: S. Carman 1. Hereford heifer: S. Carman 1. Best dairy cow, any breed, in milk: G. Robertson 1, W. Grounds 2. Best dairy heifer, any breed, in milk: W. Grounds 1 and 2.
