ACCOUNTANT IN COURT STEALS COMPANY MONEY 111 luck and muddling wera said to be the cause of the downfall of an accountant who appeared at the Police Court to-day. He was charged with stealing two sums of money, amounting to £sl Is lOd. Chief-Detective Hammond said that accused was a shareholder in a company that had gore into liquidation. He 'had been appointed to collect certain money, and had instead muddled it away. “He’s a qualified accountant who has had good positions,” said the ChiefDetective, “but he has had bad luck and ill health. He is not a thief.” He was placed on probation for two years, ordered to make restitution, and his name was suppressed.
