BONDS AND STOCKS EASIER WAIHIS IMPROVE A quiet tone prevailed on ’Change this morning. In banks Commercials are firm, and buyers improved to 27s 8d at the early call, but eased twopence at midday. Sellers are not quoting. Several parcels of New Zealands were done at 58s 6d. Most other shares in this section attract steady sellers on a firm market. Insurances continue to meet with steady demand on a firm market. In timber, buyers of Leyland O’Brien improved Is to 335, with sellers steady at 365. The miscellaneous section saw an improvement in Haywards, buyers moving up to 19s, with sellers slightly easier at 19s 9d. Taranaki Oils are also registering greater activity, and sales are recorded up to 10s 6d. Sanfords are easier, with sellers of the ordinary scrip at 19s 9d, and buyers for both issues at 19s. Waihis are in slightly better tone in mining, and sales are registered at 10s, and with more sought at that figure at the mid-day call, sellers were steady at 10s 9d. In the gilt-edged section, 1933 and 1936 bonds and stocks are easier, and sales were reported at mid-day at £lOl and £lOl 2s 6d respectively.
