Bolton, publicity manager for Universal Films (N.Z.), Ltd., arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr G. E. Warburton, of Wellington, who has been on a two months’ tour of the North Island, has returned to his home. Colonel A. Spain, one of the directors of the Sydney Ferries, is spending a holiday in the Dominion. He arrived with Mrs. Spain early this week. Mr. J. H. Saunders, of the Sydney “Bulletin”. staff, is on a holiday visit to the Dominion. He is accompanied by Mrs. Saunders. Mr. Louis Thompson, of Melbourne, president of the Federated Master Builders’ Association of Australia, left yesterday tor Christchurch, where he will attend the Dominion Conference. Mr. Cliff Shore, head clerk at the Papatoetoe post office, has received notice of his transfer to the Henderson post office, and will commence fcis duties there on Saturday morning. Mr. W. B. Mcllveney, Commissioner of Police, returned from his tour of the North yesterday and is staying at the Hotel Cargen. He intends leaving for Wellington either to-morrow or on Saturday. Mr. A. A. Jenkin, of Sydney, is in }JeW Zealand with the Australian cricket team. He played for SotitrT Australia in the days of George Giffen and J. J. Lyons, and still retains a keen interest in the game. He has frequently accompanied Australian teams to England. Brigadier-General Bateman Champain, C.M.G., secretary-general of the British Red Cross, accompanied by Mrs. Champain and two daughters, will arrive in Wellington from Sydney on February 28. The brigadiergeneral will tour the Dominion, and inspect the branches of the Red Cross, attending the annual meeting of the New Zealand Society at Auckland, and probably giving lectures in the centres.
The Minister of Lands (Hon. A. D. McLeod) and the Minister of Agriculture (Hon. O. J. Hawken) will leave Wellington to-morrow for Te Kuiti, and on Saturday will visit Piopio, Wairoa, Waitomo and other places, receiving deputations at Te Kuiti in the evening. On Sunday the Ministers will leave for the Kawhia district to Inspect sand dunes and meet local bodies. The Ministers will proceed to Frankton Junction on Tuesday afternoon.
