“HELL’S ANGELS”
GREAT AIRPLANE FILM The 40 airplanes (18 Fokker models, 12 French ships, and 10 British Sopwitli planes), in which Greta Nissen, James Hall, Ben E-yon, Louis Wolheim and others will fly all over God’s heaven in “Hell’s Angels,” new Caddo film, have arrived at Clover Field, Santa •Monica, California. They are now being reconditioned at the Kinner Airplane and Company’s hangars at Glendale, California, -which. Mr. Hughes has taken over for the time being. Howard Hughes, the young producer of “Two Arabian Knights,” has rented 30 United States Government ships lor atmosphere, making a total of 70 aircraft to be flown in “Hell’s Angels.” J. B. Alexander, former vice-president and general manager of the Los An-geles-San Diego Air Line, has been placed in charge of the movie air squadron. Mr. Hughes announced through United Artists that lie has abandoned his initial plan to film air scenes of "Hell’s Angels” at one of the established flying fields in Southern California, and that instead these air sequences will be photographed in the air, cameramen, with parachutes on their backs, flying in other machines. Luther Reed is directing “Hell’s Angels,” which Hary Behn adapted to the screen from an original story of the Royal Flying Corps. In addition to Mr. Colman. Miss Banky and Mr. Beery, Mr. Goldwyn has borrowed Virginia Bradford from Cecil B. de Mille for the production, which is to be directed by Fred Niblo. Mr. Niblo has just completed work on “The Devil Dancer,” Gilda Gray's first starring feature for Mr. Goldwyn. “The Devil Dancer” will be released shortly in New Zealand,
