An Unlucky One Young Pretender was extremely unlucky in the Electric Handicap at Rotorua on Monday, as, after getting away badly, he met interference going down the back. At the turn the Some Boy 11. gelding was making up a lot of ground, and at the distance was a big possibility, but here again he struck trouble. He rallied gamely, and finished a good second. His turn will come soon. Hottest of the Fixture Rang! Kokiri was the hottest favourite to score during the Rotorua fixture, but the three-year-old son of Lay Comet and Bunday fully justified the fine confidence reposed in him by winning practically from end to end in hollow fashion. Rangi Kokiri is a racy looking customer, and is trained by A. Tinker at Frankton. The horse appears to have a good future before him. With his limited team Tinker is doing particularly well, and probably the next few seasons will see the new trainer well upon the winning list.
