THE FIRST CAR. —The natives of Ma taura Bay got a surprise to see a motor-car the other day, as it was the first car to arrive in this peaceful little village, although only about seven miles from Waihi. The driver of the car (a 10 h.p. Singer), Mr. H. L. Rose, of Point Chevalier, made the long descent and ascent without mishap. The natives of the bay, who are noted for their hospitality, gave their novel guest a very hearty welocme.
