EDENDALE
BIG DOUBLE BILL Old-fashioned melodrama, so enthusiastically received by the publicm the days of the two reel thrillers, has been brought back on the screen again in the Cecil B. De Mille supervised production, “The Coming of Amos,” which will be screened at the Edendale Cinema to-night, with Rod La Rocque in the starring role. This Producers’ Distributing Corporation release has melodramatic comedy for its theme, reviving the exciting actions of the hero, the heroine and the villain, plentifully garnished with humour. Opposite Rod La Rocque in the hero s role, Jetta Goudal portrays the role of the heroine in a manner worthy of her title as “the screen’s most fascinating personality.’' Noah Beery, as the villain, adds life and colour to this featured role. Around these three love, danger, romance and struggle, plus frequent bits of comedy, fill the unusual plot of the picture, which in book form has been one of the season’s best sellers. “Painting the Town,” with Glenn Tryon in the leading role, will also be shown. Owing to the unprecedented demand for “Wings” seats at the Criterion Theatre, Broadway, New York, special midnight screenings of this Paramount air epic were held on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Night. “Wings” is in its sixth month at the above theatre. Fred Thomson, Paramount star, has secured a stable mate for Silver King, the horse he has used in his pictures during the past few years. The new steed is of Arabian stock, pure white and has the same extraordinary eyes for which Silver King is noted.
