A DOUBLE ACCIDENT
BULLOCK WAGGON STRUCK BY TRAIN DRIVER INJURED LATpR Press Association. An unusual double accident occurred at a railway crossing at Tahekeroa on Saturay evedning. Mr. Peter Bayer, a married farmer, of Tahekeroa, received serious injuries to his head. At about 6 p.m. Mr. Bayer was driving a bullock team across the line when the bullocks were struck by a train. One of the tead was killed outright and another badly injured, but Mr. Bayer escaped unhurt. A derrick, to raise the injured animal from the line, was being constructed, when Mr. Bayer slipped and fell from the structure on to the bullock, the scaffold collapsing on top of him. After receiving first aid treatment at Helensville, the injured man was brought to Auckland by motor and admitted to the Auckland Hospital, where he was found to be suffering from a fracture of the jaw. He is progressing satisfactorily.
