Miles, who defeated Banner fn the 75yds and 220yds events for the world’s sprinting title, was disqualified by the Protest Committee from further competing in the forthcoming £I,OOO handicap race. Miles explained that his performances were compiled by a friend acting for him. He made a mistake, but had no intention to deceive the committee. It was decided to permit Banner to compete in the forthcoming 100yds and lJTOyds world’s championship events. — A. and N.Z.
