STRAND

“SEVENTH HEAVEN”"Seventh Heaven/' the wonder photoplay of the season, still continues to delight large audiences at the Strand Theatre at both sessions daily. Based on the great stage success of Austin Strong, the Fox Films version of this intensely dramatic story of love, faith and courage has been hailed as a triumph for Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, the two leading players. The story of this great production tells of the spiritual awakening of two characters of the Parisian underworld, and their realisation that happiness is obtained only by their own courage and self-reliance. The girl, Diane, is a moral coward, dominated by a drugcrazed sister, and forced into a life she loathes. Chico, a worker in the sewers, who is a “very remarkable fellow,” as he is fond of remarking, is a believer in the power of faith and fears nothing. When these two meet, and influence which they have on each other forms the theme of a most remarkable picture. A feature is the technical excellence of the photography and fidelity with which the spirit of Paris has been captured, while the backgrounds of the streets of Montmartre are both picturesque and beautiful. The players in the supporting cast are Butler, Albert Gran, Marie Mosquini, Gladys Brockwell and Emile Chautard. Preceding the screening of the picture is a very artistically-produced prologue featuring Miss Phyllis Hazel and Mr. Birrell O’Malley. Concluding a notable programme is a beautiful scenic, “Solitude.”
