ROYAL, KINGSLAND

“WHITE GOLD” Thoughts, moods and environments as they affect four strained personalities on a bleak,' drought-stricken Arizona ranch, *are the strange elements Mr. Howard has woven into an unusual study of life. In “White Gold,” which is being shown at the Theatre Royal, Kignsland, the innermost processes of the mind are photographed. For example,' Miss Goudal follows a path of mental retrogression throughout the story and the disturbing elements that contribute to her depression are shown by a series of new camera accomplishments. The rasping of a knife being whetted; the squeaking of a rocking-chair working on a mind already dispirited by heat and hate, are among the chief factory in the unfoldment of the drama. Basically, the picture is a true study of life as it is known in the heat-tor-tured wastes. It makes no attempt at display, but is simple in construction throughout with the exception that the story is advanced by a new technique. Jetta Goudal is the star of “White Gold” and she is supported by Kenneth Thompson, George Bancroft. Nichols, Clyde Cook and Robert Perry. The second feature on the programme will be “The Canyon of Light,” starring Tom Mix. Karl Dane and George K. Arthur, the two comedians who were so successful in their first co-starring picture, “Rookies," will shortly be seen again in “Baby Mine,” a comedy adapted from the stage play of the same name.
