Toilettes that the Parisienne has taken south are always a reliable indication of “what’s to come.” There is a flair, a quality, a prophetic “something” about the Riviera models that marks them out from the season's sartorial flotsam and jetsam, so to speak. Clothes of the semi-sporting variety are well in the southern picture; but they are somehow in an unmistakably separate category from even ‘the smartest of “home” wear. Designers seem to cater unerringly for the sun and sea. Colour and cheer inspire their achievements. A typically appropriate alliance of sandy beigt. and sunrise coral is expressed in a suit comprising a very new-looking coral - coloured cardigan, with smart tailored collar, revers, and turn-back cuffs in crepe de chine of the same hue; a beige jumper with the new crossed side-fastening and a border in which the coral tint is repeated; and a skirt of beige crepella, pleated with that consummate skill which is such a feature of ensemble.
