GIVEN A CHANCE

PROBATION FOR GRIFFITHS Submitting that the prisoner, Boe Griffiths, found guilty of attempting to steal from a person, had had a most unfortunate life,. Mr. Heed pleaded for lenient treatment before Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court this morning. The prisoner, said counsel, had been in custody since last November, and suggested that that was sufficient punishment. Misfortune had dogged his footsteps since early life. His Honour said he intended to give the prisoner another chance, and would admit him to probation for two years and order him to pay the costs.
