ELYSIANOR TAKES THE HURDLES THE HAWK WINS THE STAKES (Special to THE SUN.) NEW PLYMOUTH, To-day. The Taranaki Jockey Club’s summer meeting concluded to-day in fine weather. Won by one and a-half lengths; two lengths separating second and third. Time, 2.5 2-5. Elysianor Has Easy Win In an even betting race, Airtight wound up favourite for the Okoke Hurdles. Powhiri and Elysianor were Hurdes. Pbwhiri and Elysianor were together in front haf a mile from home, and they led to the straight, followed by San Fera, but in the run home Elysianor came away and won by a length and a-half from Powhiri, who beat Hymgreat by two lengths, while San Fera and Flowing Bowl were next. MOKAU HACK HANDICAP Of £175; 1 Mile. S—FLYING SHOT, 7.0 ~. .. 1 2 SOVENA, 7.9 2 4 ALWAYS, 7.8 3 Scratched: Lady Killer. Won by a head. Time, 1.50. Backers. Were Lucky The public went heavily for The Swell in the Mokau Handicap, but Flying Shot, the other representative of R. Johnson's stable, won, and paid a good price. Flying Shot was in front along the back, with The Swell shut in and Sovena well back. Flying Shot led into the straight, but Sovena finished doggedly and Flying Shot got home by only a head. Always was two lengths further back third,, and Miss Mercian was fourth, followed by The Swell.
