SIXTY YEARS WED
EARLY COLONISTS CELEBRATE MR. AND MRS. W. UTTING’S JUBILEE Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Utting, of Maybeck Road, Mount Albert, celebrated their diamond wedding yesterday. They are old colonists of Auckland, having arrived in the early “sixties.” Mr. Utting came from England in the ship Redjacket in 1860, and Mrs. Utting, then Miss Caroline Clark, arrived live years later in the Balaclava. They were married in Auckland in 1868. Mr. Utting began his business career in the firm of Burnside and Co., colonial importers, and he was then the only entering clerk in the town. He is now the oldest customhouse agent in Auckland. He continued with this firm when this business was acquired by C. McArthur and Co., but 25 years ago Mr. Utting started as a partner in the firm of Vines, Utting and Purson, Island traders. He is still an active member of this firm. There are three sons, six daughters and 24 grand-children. The sons are Mr. H. Utting, Mr. W. E. Utting, and Mr. W. T. Utting, all of Auckland. The daughters are Mrs. Tracy-Inglis, Mrs. Coleman, Tauranga; Mrs. H. E. Wheeler, Putaruru; Mr. Farr, and the two Misses Utting, of Auckland.
