FIRE AT GISBORNE

VALUABLE LIBRARY DESTROYED Press Association. GISBORNE, Friday. An eight-roomed residence, owned by Mr. J. R. Kirk, was destroyed by fire this afternoon. Included in the contents of the house, which were burned was a valuable library, including volumes printed in the fifteenth century, 'and autographed works by famous authors, valuable pictures, war medals and South Sea curios. The insurance on the building was <££,ooo and on the furniture £I,OOO, both in the Standard Office.
