Carnival on the Manukau
YACHT CLUBS REGATTA TO-MORROW’S PROGRAMME The outstanding aquatic event of the year on the Manukau Harbour will be held to-morrow afternoon when the Manukau Yacht and Motor-Boat Club will conduct its annual* regatta. Championship races of the Manukau will be held both for yachts and. launches and an innovation will be two events for Cornwell Cup class boats, which are coming into favour as a result of encouragement given by the club. The events will be contested over the club’s usual courses. The ordinary yacht race will start at 2.15 p.m., launches at 2.20, yacht championship race at 3.5, speedboat championship at 4. The first of the Cornwell Cup class races will begin at 3.30 p.m. Entries and handicaps are: Yachts. —Anahera, scr; Elisee, l£m; Valdora, 2m; Merry Jest, 7m; Nyria, 7m; Limelight, 9m; Cupid, 9Jm; Hetty, 10m; Elsinore, 10m; Betty, 12|m; Sea Toiler, 15m; Westward, 20m; Emerald, 23m. Launches.—Women’s Race: Rosita, scr; Naughty Girl, 3m; Karma, 3m 455; Sea Wolf, 5m 30s; Rainbow, 7m; A.H.8., 11m; Elma, 11m 455; Pastime, 11m 455: Hinemoa, 11m 455; Norma, Wanderer, Mermaid, Senorita, and Lily Meg, all 12m 15s; Miharo, 12m 30s; Regal, 12m 30s; Katui, 12m 455; Mam’selle, 16m; Te Karo, 18m; Eiona handicap withheld. Speedboat Championship Open. —Rosita. Pal o’ Mine, Diona, Miss Akarana and Hobo. Yacht Championship Open. —Elsie, Valdora, Nyria; Anahera, Sea Gnome, and Merry Jest. Cornwell Cup Class. —Six boats have entered for the open championship of the Manukau and in this race I. Me* Master and D. Rogers, winners of the cup, will race. There will also be a race in this class for boys of the club under 18 years. Stalls and sideshows will be open at the club house and in the evening a dance will be held also in the club house. YACHTING AT TAURANGA ANNUAL CRUISING RACES The annual cruising races of the Tauranga Yacht and Power-Boat Club for yachts and launches was held on the mid-week holiday. Fine weather prevailed and an enjoyable outing was spent. The course was from Tauranga to Motuhoa Island. Results were as follow: Yachts. —Charm, 1; Ngaio, 2; Wizard, 3. Launches. —Rewa, 1; Valencia, 2; Helen C., 3. Competitors made the return trip immediately and landed at Mount Maunganui. where a largely-attended dance was held in the Arcadia Hall.
