CIVIL ENGINEERS
QUARTERLY MEETING HELD Congratulations on his selection to the presidency of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers were extended to Mr. F. E. de Guervier at the quarterly meeting of the Auckland branch held recently. Mr. L. B. Campbell, chairman of the branch, presided. Feeling reference was made to the death of Mr. J. Blair Mason. Interesting papers on the supplies of materials for works of construction were read by Messrs. F. E. Powell and G. T. Murray. Owing to the lateness of the hour discussion was postponed until a special meeting could be arranged. On Saturday a large party of members visited the Auckland city waterworks at Titirangi, Nihotupu Valley and Huia, under the guidance of Mr. W. E. Bush, and a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day was spent.
