WARSHIP GOES SOUTH

CRUISE OF DIOMEDE DUNEDIN SAILS NEXT WEEK Immediately upon her arrival from Russell yesterday morning H.M.S. Diomede took in fuel from the Admiralty oil- tanker Nucula in the stream, and later in the day sailed for Gisborne on the start of her southern cruise. After calling at the Poverty Bay port, the Diomede will touch Napier, Wanganui, Greymouth, West Coast Sounds, Paterson’s Inlet, Dunedin, Akaroa, Lyttelton, Picton and Sounds, and Wellington. Prior to her return north, however, the Diomede will join H.M.S. Dunedin in exercises off the West Coast of the South Island, and later the ships will meet off Akaroa for harbour drill. The Diomede will return to Auckland on March 3. The Dunedin commences her cruise of southern ports on Thursday next February '6.
