EARLY SETTLER’S DEATH

MRS. M. J. McKIBBIN

Mrs. Mary Jane McKibbin, who died yesterday, landed in New Zealand with her husband over 60 years ago, and her family built one of the first houses in the Herne Bay district.

She was 95 years of age, and she was living at Hamilton Road, Herne Bay. The ship Shirley brought Mr. James McKibbin, who died 19 years ago, and his - wife to the colony. Mrs. McKibbin was born at Portoferfy, Northern Ireland. She was a foundation member of St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church. There are two children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren of the marriage, the son being Mr. YV. J. McKibbin, and the daughter, Mrs. Rachel, of Auckland.
