HUSBAND’S CALLOUS CONDUCT

£230 IN ARREARS

Edward Bernard Parkar, a young man, has brought himself face to face with a serious financial problem. At the Police Court to-day Parker pleaded guilty to a charge of being £230 in arrears on a maintenance order in favour r of his wife and children. Accused's counsel said that he had been out of work last year. “He deserted his wife and lived with another woman,” said the Magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt. Counsel: Not since he came out of Mount Eden Prison. The Magistrate: Well, he couldn't take her up there. Parker was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as he pays 30s a week to his wife.
