FERRY BOAT AGROUND

MISHAP NEAR NORTHCOTE PASSENGERS LANDED IN DINGHY A ferry boat which left Auckland late last evening for Northcote had almost reached its destination when it got into shallow water and was forced to lie in a mud bed all through the night. All went well until the Kestrel arrived about half a length from Northcote Wharf. Somehow she got a little off her usual course and struck a mudbank. As the tide was ebbing efforts to refloat her were unsuccessful Passengers were landed by dinghy without difficulty and with a minimum of delay. The Kestrel was refloated on the rising tide early this morning. She suffered no damage.
