GIFT EVENING
Mrs. .G. Beer was the hostess at an enjoyable gift evenifig held in the Methodist Church Hall, Grey Lynn, recently, in honr of Miss Ivy Priest, who is shortly to be married to Mr. Thomas Beer. The bride and bridegroom elect were the recipients during the evening of a number of delightful gifts for their future home. Musical items and songs were contributed by some of the guests and amusing competitions were held. Mrs. Beer, who received the guests wore an attractive frock of black crepe de chine with touches of rose pink. Miss Ivy Priest was wearing a pretty frock of blue and silver tissue and georgette. Among the guests were: Mrs. W. J. Priest, wearing a floral trimmed black silk crepe frock. Mrs. R. Cantell, navy blue crepe faille frock with pink relief. Mrs. W. Larder, French grey frock of crepe marocain. Mrs. C. Deed, frock of beige lace and georgette. Mrs. G. Thompson, wildrose taffeta frock. Mrs. O. J. Hedlund, floral frock of crepe de chine. Mrs. J. Dickey, cedar brown bengaline frock. Mrs. G. Heron, frock of rose pink silk crepe. Mrs. 'V. Seagar, moonlight bhie frock of georgette. Mrs. W. Burdett, sequined frock of black lace. Mrs. J. Smith, delphinium blue crepe de chine frock. Mrs. C. Priest, black crepe de chine frock with floral border. Mrs. N. Neal, navy blue frock of crepe marocain. Mrs. A. Neal, frock of geranium rose crepe elise. Mrs. R. Neal, frock of ivory crepe de chine. Mrs. A. Briggs, floral patterned crepe de chine frock. Mrs. E. Ball, navy blue crepe frock relieved with crimson. Mrs. M. Wise, black frock of crepe de chine with touches of rose. Miss I. Larder, cameo rose crepe de chine frock. Miss M. Holroyd, ivory frock of silk crepe. Miss R. Dickey, rose pink crepe de chine frock. Miss G. Hedlund, old gold lace over rose slip. Miss G. Hewson, jade green frock of silk crepe. Miss McGregor, ivory lace frock with dawn pink foundation. Miss E. Heron, frock of parchment silk crepe. Miss A. Seagar, hyacinth blue frock of crepe de chine. Miss F. Baker, rose trimmed frock of black georgette. Miss H. O’Meara, floral frock of crepe de chine. Miss B. Fellowes, jvory frock of crepe de chine. LEAP YEAR DANCE PAKURANGA SOCIAL CLUB A very enjoyable dance was held by the Pakuranga Social Club on Saturday evening, in the Pakuranga Public Hall, when the women members of the society gave a leap year dance. There was a large attendance, visitors being present from Howick, Otahuhu and Papatoetoe. Mrs. C. Connelly fulfilled the duties of M.C. and Miss Strong and Mr. Benns supplied the musical programme, a couple of pleasing extras were played by Mrs. B. Andrew and Miss R. McAneaney. During the evening, some very enjoyable character songs were contributed by little Nelda Ashdown, and a song and recitation were given by Miss Loma Andrew. A dainty supper was served and ices were! in good demand throughout the evening.
