WOMEN LIFE-SAVERS NORTH SHORE INNOVATION COMMENDABLE work The establishment of a women’s life-saving corps at one of the North Shore beaches may have far-reaching effects. Rescued swains, for Instance, may throw gratified arms about their rescuers. An enthusiast, Mrs. Annie Ait* kenhead, who was well trained in lifesaving work in the Old Country, haa gathered up a band of 36 girls in Bel* mont and Narrow Neck, and haa trained them in life-saving drill. The students pay Id for two weeks. At her request, the Devonport Borough Council Is granting additional facilities for beach training and the use of a. hall for lecture purposes. The self-imposed task won much praise from the council.
