MADE BEACH RESORTS
COLONISTS’ GOLDEN WEDDING Two colonists who played a part in the foundation of the summer resorts of Buckland’s Beach and Ostend, Waiheke, are celebrating their golden wedding to-day. They are Mr. and Mrs. J. Hindman, of Calliope Road, Stanley Bay, who were married in Ponsonby by the Rev. Westbrook. Mr. Hindman came to the Dominion by the ship Baron Aberdaire in 1875, and Miss Amelia Pattison, now Mrs. Hindman, arrived oy the Orari two years later. The artistic laying out of gardens and parks made Mr. Hindman notable in Auckland. For over 20 years he was in the employ of Mr. D. Nolan. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hindman are members of the Old Colonists’ Association, and Mr. Hindman plays bowls at the Stanley Bay green The three sons and three daughters of the couple are Mr. J. Hindman, of Waipukurau; Mr. W. J Hindman, -of Papatoetoe; and Mr. W. L. Hindman. Ol England; Mrs. T. P. Smytheman, of Papatoetoe; Mrs. W. Goodwin, of Edendale; and Mrs. F. J. Hooker, of Stanley Bay. There are 22 grandchildren.
