THE WEEK REVIEWED BANKS SELL FREELY By “NOON CALL’’ WEDNESDAY, 9 am. Another week of steady business has passed on ’Change. Interest continues confined mainly to banking and the better classes of securities, though slightly more attention has been paid to mining over the week. New Zealands have been one of the best sellers in the banking section, being dealt with in Wellington at 59s on Thursday, and four times in Auckland over the period at the same figure. Nationals of New Zealand have improved over the week from a sale in Christchurch on Wednesday at £6 19s, and one on the same day at Wellington at £6 18s 6d to be done at £6 19s 6d in Christchurch again on Thursday, and again at that centre at £7 on Saturday. N.S.W.’s are firm around £47 15s (cum div.), several sales being put through at that figure. In the insurance section South British meet with a strong demand and frequent business has been reported on a market which has improved over the week from sales at 57s 3d to see the scrip dealt with in Christchurch on Monday at 58s. Firm buyers for most other insurance shares find sellers hard to locate. Dalgetys, in the loan and finance section, still meet with a steady demand on outside ’Changes, though practically neglected in the North. The scrip was dealt with daily in Christchurch over the week on a market fluctuating between £l3 15s 6d and £l3 16s. New Zealand Guarantee Corporation are in better tone and sales were made in Wellington at 9s 6d. Coals are passing through a period of comparative quiet, and though buyers’ quotations are mostly unchanged, sellers are hard to locate and few sales have been recorded, Hikurangis are still In demand, the ordinary scrip being put through at 4s and the preference at Bs.
