MISSING CAKE
“MYSTERY” ON INDIANOLA CARGO FROM MOROCCO A Sherlock Holmes is needed on the Indianola, a vessel loaded with phosphates which arrived from Casa Blanca, Morocco, this morning. H© would probably solve the “mystery” of the missing Christmas cake. This cake, the triumph of the ship's cook, weighed 181 b, and was to have taken part in the seasonal festivities. However, it disappeared in the night and no one can explain where or why. The Indianola arrived at Auckland direct from Casa Blanca, Morocco, via the Panama Canal. Few vessels come direct from that part of the world, but the ship’s officers had nothing to report. Loading operations are swift at Casa Blanca. A cargo of 7,700 tons of phosphate was taken on in less than seven hours, so that the officers and crew had little time to see anything of the famous old Portuguese seaport, which nowadays has a maritime trade valued at £3,000,000 a year.
