One of the strangest movie actors to visit Los Angeles was a huge hairylegged tarantula, which was recruited from ’his desert haunts of Arizona to play an important role in "Womanwise.” The director of the film relegated the task of directing the efforts of the tarantula to Duke Kananamoku, the famed Hawaiian swimmer, who claims to be more or less an authority in tarantulas. The bite of the tarantula is deadly, and the leading lady, June Collyer, is not very keen on working with the giant insect.
