Major J. Maguire, of London, is staying at the Grand Hotel.

Lieut Colonel F. Symon, C.M.G. 13.5.0. arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning.

Commissioner Hay and Brigadier Scotney, of the Salvation Army, returned to Wellington by the Limited last evening.

Canon Grant Cowen, vicar of St. Matthews, will be absent from the city for a few weeks, recuperating after his recent illness.

Mr. S. S. Crick, general manager of Fox Films (Australasia), Ltd., will arrive in Auckland on Monday from Sydney.

Mr. T. R- Aickin, Private secretary to the Prime Minister, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited. He is staying at the Grand Hotel.

The Hon. F. J. Rolleston, Minister of Justice, will arrive in Auckland on Thursday from Wellington and will go on the same morning to Maungaturoto and Whangarei. He will return to Auckland on February 11.

Mr. Stronach Paterson is visiting Auckland, is at the Northern Club. He was a member of the London Agency of the Dairy Produce Control Board.

The Very Rev. Father T. A. Gilbert, S.M., MJV., is retiring from the rectorship of St. Patrick’s College, Wellington. He will be succeeded by the Rev. Father B. J. Ryan, S.M., M.A., the present vice-rector of the college.
