TWO WOMEN RESCUED

SAVED FROM DROWNING BROTHERS’ PROMPT ACTION Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, Monday. Another fatality was narrowly averted in the Manawatu River yesterday, when two y.ouths, Jim and Carl Erenstrom, rescued two young women who had got into difficulties li the water in the locality of Ruahlne limit, I favourite spot for bathers. It is stated that one of the women found she was unable to reach the hank owing to fatigue. Her companion quickly went to her assistance and discovered, in turn, that she, too, was j almost exhausted. At this stage the two brothers, who were on the bank in the vicinity, had their attention directed to the incident. Carl Erenstrom, aged 18, was in swimming attire. He immediately swam out to the women, while his brother, aged 16 dived in fully clothed. The women were soon brought to safety and resusclation was applied with success.
