DEATH OF WATERSIDER

FATAL END TO FALL A verdict of accidental death was returned at the inquest this afternoon on Alfred Evans, a married man. aged 57 years, who died on January 22 following injuries received through a fall from a staging on King’s Wharf on December 28 . Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., was coroner. Deceased, who resided at S 8 Union Street, was assisting to unload coal from the Kaimanawa. He appeared to be struck by a basket of coal, overbalanced, and fell 10ft on to the wharf, receiving severe injuries to his back. He did not rally, and died three weeks later.
