In response to a telephone messag*. Mr. James Lomax went to the homo of his friend, Mr. Lewis Holden Maynard, aged 67. and when he arrived there Mr. Maynard said: “I have just shot my wife and I am going to shoot myself.” He then placed a pistol to his and fatally shot himself. Mr. Lonnx informed the police. who found the dead body of Mr. Maynard’s wife. Alice, aged 55, on the floor with bullet wounds in her head. Mr. Maynard, who at one time was Mayor of Bundaberg. had been in indifferent health for some time.—A. and N.Z.
