THRILLING MAN-HUNT
MURDERER CAPTURED SAID HE WAS STARVING By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. BERLIN, Sunday. The armed criminal Hein, who was wanted on charges of robbery and murder, was arrested at Weingarten after long eluding thousands of searchers, including police and soldiers. He was discovered at an inn complaining that he was starving. The man-hunt was the most thrilling in German criminal history.—A. and N.Z. A previous message stated:— Police formed a cordon round a wood at Coburg, in which an armed criminal, named Hein, suspected of robberies and four murders, was hiding. A police sergeant attempted to arrest him but was shot through the head. Hein then rode oft on his bicycle. A. second police officer overtook him ana Hein took cover in a ditch and exchanged a fusilade of shots until his ammunition was exhausted. 1 Hein, who was thought to have been wounded, escaped.
