SOUTHERN REGATTA SEVERAL STAR SUCCESSES Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The Christchurch rowing regatta held at Kairaki, on the Waimakariri River, this afternoon. All the Christchurch clubs and Star (Wellington) were represented. Results were: Maiden Fours.—Canterbury, 1; Star, 2: Lyttelton, 3. Nine crews competed. Canterbury won by a length. Youths’ Double Sculls.—Lyttelton, 1: Avon, 2; Star, 3. Senior Fours.—Canterbury, 1; Avon, 2; Star, 3. Union also started. Canterbury led all the way and won by three lengths. Wakefield, the former English captain.— DACRE UNABLE TO STAY FOR AUSTRALIAN MATCH The effort made to secure the services of C. C. Dacre for the match between Auckland and the Australians on March 9 has been unsuccessful. The matter was discussed between Mr. E. PI. Nalder, chairman of the Auckland Cricket Association, and Dacre at North Shore on Saturday, when Dacre said that he would have liked to make his last appearance in a representative match at Eden Park, but private reasons necessitated his departure for England on February 15.
