THREE AUCKLANDERS SEVERELY INJURED
MOTOR ACCIDENT AT MARTON CAR TOTALLY WRECKED Press Association. MARTON, To-day. A serious motor collision involving severe injuries to James Turner, Jack Cooper and Reginald Cook, three men employed by the Colonial Sales Co., Auckland, occurred at the intersection of the borough’s north boundary last night. A small car driven by H. J. Thompson was proceeding along the main street when the driver observed another car coming out of a side road. He slowed up, but the other vehicle careered across at a great speed, leaving a cloud of dust behind. Simultaneously a third car, driven by A. Forno, Auckland, came from the direction in which the second car had gone, and crashed into the first car, causing it to swing completely round. Thompson had a remarkable escape, but Forno’s car went on about 20 yards, then somersaulted, pinning the five occupants beneath. The three named were found severely injured, and were taken to hospital. Forno and Stanley Holthouse escaped with minor bruises, but their ca.r was almost totally wrecked.
