FRENCH TENNIS TEAM NOT RECALLED By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 10.5 a.m. PARIS, Friday. The French Tennis Federation confirms the report that in view of the forthcoming Davis Cup matches, it desires the French tennis team to return as early as possible. Officials of the federation explain that they had not cabled as the team was in the midst of its chief engagements, but they were conveying their point or view to the team by letter.— A. and N.Z. Reed. 10.50 a.m. LONDON, Friday. Interviewed respecting the statement from Sydney that Borotra had been recalled, M. Canet, president of the French Lawn Tennis Association, said that it was the first he had heard of it. There was absolutely no truth in the statement. They would not dream for one moment of recalling the team before the termination of aii its engagements.—Sun. Reed. 11.30 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Referring to the cable from Paris, Borotra said that he had not received a cable from the French Lawn Tennis Association asking them to return to France in view of the approaching Davis Cup matches. He does not expect to receive one, and says that the French Association approved of the arrangements before they left, and that they will carry out their part of the programme.—A. and N.Z. A message from Paris on Thursday stated that the French Lawn Tennis Federation had cabled to the team in Australia to return at the earliest possible opportunity, in view of the suggested possibility of the players developing staleness.
