FIRST DAY’S PLAY (From Our Own Correspondent) MATAMATA, To-day. The first day's play of the Matamata Bowling Club’s fourth annual tournament took place yesterday. Fourteen rinks competed, including Morrinsville, Ponsonby, Ellerslie, Takapuna, Carlton, Putaruru, Te Aroha and Matamata. Results of the first three rounds were: Section A. —First round: Cockhead, McIntyre, Livingstone, Stewart (Matamata - ), IS, v. Joll, Howell. Jenkin, Dickson (Ellerslie), 14; T. Martin, D. Coghill, F. Donald, R. Branch (Morrinsville), 34, v. Buckley, Cranswick. Egan, Hawes (Matamata), 13; Carbines, Leatham, Somraervill. Parsons (Ponsonby), 24, v. Were, Columb, Gordon, Crabb (Matamata). 22; Leggatt (Putaruru), a bye. Second round: Stewart, 20, v. Crabb, 15; Parsons, 22, v. Leggatt, IS: Dickson. 25, v. Hawes, S. Third round: Parsons, 25, v. Stewart, 23; Dickson, 22, v. Crabb, 25; Branch, 36, v. Leggatt, 10. Section B. —First round: Prowse, Wright, McLeod, Kelly (Ponsonby), 19, V. Cranswick, Cleland. Muir, Oates (Matamata), 16; Pulling, Simpson, Green, Garland (Matamata). 22. v. Wallace; Childerhouse, Ivriskovich, Ngakura (Te Aroha), 14; Casey, Percy, Kilgour, Snedden (Carlton), 22, v.
